Dr. Damon Szymanowski
A Jesuit High School graduate, Dr. Szymanowski earned a degree in integrative biology from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Szymanowski spent most of his free time in the swimming pool, as he was a four-year Letterman on the Division I Men’s swim team. Upon graduation in 1998, he happily set his sights east to Boston, Massachusetts and attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Szymanowski knew right away that orthodontics was the best match for him. He actively participated in Smile Squad, educating the importance of oral health for local elementary schools. Having a special interest in human anatomy, he was asked to become a gross anatomy tutor for the dental students. In his four years at Tufts University, he met many life-long friends and colleagues, including a very special friend, his wife Alison. Upon completion of dental school in 2003, Dr. Szymanowski was accepted to the University of Pennsylvania for his two-year postgraduate training in orthodontics. At this illustrious Ivy league university, Dr. Szymanowski was most fortunate to learn orthodontics under the guidance of Dr. Robert “Slick” Vanarsdale, a well-respected leader in orthodontics and periodontics worldwide. (This is the man who wrote ‘the’ book on orthodontics!) Since completion of his orthodontic training in 2005, Dr. Szymanowski has had the opportunity to practice with several outstanding orthodontists, Dr Martin Van Vliet in New York, as well as Dr. Peter Worth in Roseville. Dr. Szymanowski was happy to return back to his roots, to his hometown of Sacramento in 2006. The Szymanowski name has been well known within the local dental community for over 35 years. Dr. Szymanowski’s father, Cas, first opened his periodontic practice in 1970, and Dr. Szymanowski’s brother, Jonathan, joined the practice in 2001. Practicing alongside his father and brother, Dr. Szymanowski has been able to offer a “multi-disciplinary” approach to orthodontics, allowing for unparalleled orthodontic results.
